In 2008, Einat Burg Cohen, a 42-year-old jewelry designer an artist and mother of two, established Frog Aspect. studied multi-disciplinary design at Seminar Hakibutzim College in Tel Aviv, specializing in costume design for performance arts. Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 2016.
The name Frog Aspect symbolizes my fascination with the metamorphosis process of frogs and their remarkable adaptability with different conditions. This reflects my work process, where I manipulate materials such as fabric, paper & resin ,rubber and push the material's limits while understanding its basic Behaviors and using its imperfections.
My business began with a unique collection of handmade theatrical scarves created from fabric scraps, using repetitive hand knotting and threading techniques. Due to the hot Israeli climate, I added a line of stretch fabric jewelry made with spandex that is lightweight, versatile and ideal for all climates.
What started as a collection of leftover materials evolved into a line of textile necklaces, primarily made from spandex and stretch fabrics. I found these materials playful and enjoyable to work with in the context of jewelry design. Manipulating the materials and exploring their behaviors, I transform them into new textures, transparencies, and shapes. I like to describe my work as highlighting imperfect details and making them shine. By zooming in, we can uncover endless treasures.
